Australian business owner Christopher Stephen Boucher is found dead in Thailand after attending Full Moon Party

A 37-year-old British man who lived and worked in Australia has been found dead in Thailand after a party that was notorious for wild behaviour.

Christopher Stephen Boucher, who lived on Sydney’s northern beaches, attended a Full Moon Party on the island of Koh Phangan before he was found on the steps of a 7-Eleven store around 6.30am on Monday.

Mr Boucher is said to have been on his way home from Sunday’s party when he visited an ATM to withdraw money to pay a local resident who took him back to his hotel.

“Officers are currently questioning witnesses who claim to have seen him drunk at Hat Rin Beach, where the party was held,” said Lt. Col. Arun Kamlangkeo of Koh Phangan police.

‘After the party he tried to find a car to return to his accommodation but he had no cash.

‘He couldn’t afford the fare, but he met a local resident and asked to be taken to his hotel. He promised to pay after withdrawing money.”

Colonel Kamlangkeo said the “resident agreed and dropped him off at the hotel.”

“It was said that he was visibly exhausted before he died,” he said.

“Maybe he partied all night until morning and passed out from lack of sleep. We’re questioning the person who brought him home.

‘We also examine images from security cameras.’

Mr Boucher, from Kent in southern England, ran a cleaning business in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, where he lived above a bottle shop, which had also served as a place of business since 2017.

Mr Boucher’s body was taken to Koh Phangan Hospital for further examination.

“There were no signs of assault, so we believe he was drunk or had overdosed,” Lt. Col. Arun said.

“His blood test results are still pending, but we have already informed the British Embassy of his death.”

The Full Moon Party is an all-night beach party on the island of Koh Phangan that attracts thousands of backpackers.

The event is fueled by an abundance of cheap booze and drugs, both legal, such as cannabis, and illegal.
