A family of three are devastated after their beloved ‘Poppa’ died in a tragic cycling accident while on holiday in Bali.
Bernard Daniel Fritz, 73, was found dead in Bangli village, Baturiti sub-district of Tabanan regency at around 1:40 pm on Thursday.
Tabanan police said Bernard reportedly died after he lost control of the bicycle he was riding and collapsed on roadside farmland.
The 73-year-old was discovered unconscious by locals who helped move his body to a vehicle that took him to the Baturiti 1 Public Health Facility.
Unfortunately, shortly after arrival, it was confirmed by medical staff that Bernard was dead.

“The medical team at the health facility explained that there is no sign of violence on the victim’s body,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.
“There are just some bruises on his forehead and nose.”
Police said Bernard’s son, Aaron Daniel Fritz, told authorities his father had no history of heart disease.
Aaron’s wife, Yofita Katherine Fritz, shared a series of photos of her father-in-law on her Instagram following his sudden death.
“RIP Poppa… we miss you so much,” she wrote.

The sweet series included several photos of Bernard holding his young granddaughter Charis and reading her a bedtime story.
Catherine revealed that one of the photos of her and her daughter was taken by Bernard just ‘minutes’ before his death.
“I can’t do what Poppa did a few minutes ago,” she wrote.
Bernard’s body was taken to Dharma Tadnya funeral home in Denpasar, about 25 kilometers south of Tabanan regency.
