Australian beauty queen turned boxer Avril Mathie shocks fans with extraordinary body transformation

- The doctor told her the implants were humiliating
- Boxer says she is very happy with her decision
Glamorous Australian boxer Avril Mathie is recovering well after surgery to remove her breast implants. A decision she believes is one of the best she has ever made.
Mathie, 37, started boxing in 2012 and racked up 20 amateur fights before turning pro in December 2017. Since then, she has compiled an impressive record of 8-1-1 with three wins via KO.
The bantamweight – who also won the prestigious Miss Swimsuit USA International crown in 2014 – announced on social media this week that she had recently undergone surgery to have her breast implants removed.
“If you’ve noticed that I’ve been looking a little different lately, you’re right. Seven weeks ago I had my breast implants removed after 18 years,” she said.
‘I got my first implants when I was only 19 because the culture I grew up in made me believe I was out of proportion – and I was so insecure about my body.

Mathie decided to have the implants removed after scans showed the implants were degrading
“I never loved or hated having them, but I did appreciate that overnight I went from super self-conscious to just being comfortable in my body and never thinking about it again.”
‘Over the past few years I’ve seen girls I know have their implants removed due to breast implant disease and I didn’t necessarily think I had that, but it was the trigger for me to get them checked.
‘Although they looked perfect from the outside, the scans showed that the implants were actually not in the best condition. Although it was not an emergency, the doctor recommended that I consider removal or replacement.
‘I’m not going to lie, the recovery has been absolutely brutal and I’m still not back to 100 percent – which has delayed my return to boxing.’
Mathie further explained that she has fallen in love with her body again and is very happy that she had the operation and feels like her old self again.
“Honestly, it was one of the best decisions of my life,” she said.
In 2023, Mathie was scheduled to fight Australian boxing champion Ebanie Bridges for her IBF belt.
Bridges told Ny Breaking Australia at the time that she had great respect for Mathie.

Mathie has been boxing professionally since 2017 and has posted an impressive record of 8-1-1 with three wins via KO
“I’m excited about this fight because I know our styles will fit well together. We both have a lot of followers too, so I call this the ‘Battle of the Babes,'” Bridges said.
“It’s going to be the sexiest fight ever.”
She added: “The weigh-in will break the internet.
Unfortunately, Mathie was forced to withdraw from the fight due to an undisclosed injury and was replaced by former junior bantamweight champion Miyo Yoshida.
Yoshida upset Bridges and won the world title by unanimous decision.
