An ex-army plane mechanic brutally punched a nightclub cleaner after the employee unknowingly interrupted a bathroom visit at a nightclub.

CCTV footage shows Billy Dean Fallon, 28, storming out of a female ambulatory restroom and head-butting the staff member at the Nightjar nightclub in Burleigh Heads, before repeatedly punching him in a wild brawl around midnight on January 20.

The worker had been knocking on the cab door to clean the inside for about three minutes when he was attacked.

Fallon pleaded guilty to assault with bodily harm in Southport Magistrates Court in Queensland on Monday and was ordered to pay $1,500 to the cleaning lady. Gold Coast Bulletin reported.

The attack unfolds as three women watch in horror as they wait to use the bathroom.

As the fight continues, the cleaner grabs and Fallon drives him against the wall, breaking off the plaster.

The two men eventually fall to the ground as Fallon repeatedly punches the worker in the ribs.

Fallon’s partner is seen in CCTV leaving the cell and watching the brawl, but she makes no attempt to break it up.

A guard and another patron storm into the bathroom and pry the blood-stained men from each other.

The cleaner was left with a broken nose, but did not issue a victim statement.

The court heard that Fallon had an “intimate encounter” with his partner before the couple was interrupted by the cleaner.

Magistrate Michelle Dooley said the attack on the cleaner was unjustified as he was simply doing his job.

“This person had his normal job, was clearly unaffected by alcohol and was just doing his normal duties as part of his job,” she said.

Fallon’s attorney said his client was drunk at the time, had an alcohol problem he developed in the military, and had grown up in Grafton, where fights in bathrooms were common.

Fallon was sentenced to 12 months in prison but was given immediate parole. He was ordered to pay the cleaner $1500 in compensation

“He was getting intimate with his partner there… they were getting intimate when someone started banging on the door,” he said.

“He acted impulsively, he acted protectively and he thought he was protecting himself and his partner.”

Fallon was sentenced to 12 months in prison but was given immediate parole. He was ordered to pay the cleaner $1500 in damages.
