Western Australia’s capital is forecast to receive 7-15mm of rain on Sunday, 15-35mm on Monday and up to 20mm of rain on Tuesday.

Wednesday is also marked by intermittent showers that will ease towards the end of the week.

“Perth is about to see its heaviest rain in about two months if not more,” said Sky News Weather meteorologist Alison Osborne.

Ms Osborne added that ‘widespread rain’ developed in Central Australia on Saturday and is likely to continue as it moves towards the east coast.

The second weather system – an upper level trough with its strong cold front and low pressure system – will cross the southern half of Western Australia on Monday and Tuesday with rain, gales, strong winds and possibly hail.

South Australia will also experience wet weather, with systems expected to move east by mid-week.

Inland NSW will be lashed by ‘a month of rain’, with around 15mm of rain forecast for Parkes on Monday, 20mm for Condobolin on Thursday and Cobar predicted 30mm on Monday and then 20mm on Friday

Brisbane will also have to deal with a few showers in the coming days, which will disappear from Tuesday.

Hobart will remain dry on Sunday and Monday, but showers will fall from Tuesday, with up to 7mm of rain forecast for Thursday in the capital.

A few showers are forecast to pass over Melbourne on Tuesday and Wednesday, with heavier showers on Thursday.

Sunday and Monday should remain dry in Canberra with heavy rain showers from the middle of the week.

Up to 5mm of rain could fall on Tuesday, a shower on Wednesday, before drenching the city with a possible 20mm of rain on Thursday.
