Shoppers are racing to get their hands on ‘miracle’ $8 buy that ’causes you to age backwards’

Australian shoppers are obsessed with a new beauty trend, but hundreds claim their grandmothers have been using the popular skincare products since the 1950s.

Olay’s Sensitive Moisturizing Lotion ($8 on sale now, usually $16) has seen a resurgence recently.

British influencer Shannon Mitchell revealed that her 96-year-old grandmother swears by the product and has used it every day for more than 70 years – and she still has clear skin.

“Olay is the secret to how well my grandmother aged,” she said in an interview video. ‘It promises to provide all-day moisture and leave your skin feeling soft and nourished.’

You can find the popular product at most pharmacies and supermarkets in Australia, including Coles, Woolworths, Priceline, Chemist Warehouse and more.

Shannon added, “This is a new staple in my skin care. It would be great under makeup, it just absorbs into my skin and has such a light consistency.’

Australian makeup guru Louise B also ran to the supermarket to get her hands on the popular buy after hearing it ‘helps you stay looking young’.

‘As soon as I saw people on TikTok saying that they, their mother and grandmother are not aging thanks to this cream, I ran away!’ she wrote in a video. ‘It’s half price now at Coles at $8!’

The American skincare brand was first launched in 1952 and its slogan is ‘ageless’.

With Generation Z concerned about what they will look like as they age, anti-aging products are on the rise.

Hundreds of Australian beauty enthusiasts shared their experiences with the brand online.

“I use Olay retinol and I’m 32 this year,” one person said. “People think I just turned twenty.”

“Listen, don’t sleep on this!” another advised. ‘My great aunt used Oil of Olay until she was 98 and she looked fantastic!’

One professional wrote: ‘I have been an esthetician for 20 years and many of my clients use Olay – they have beautiful skin.’

How can I look younger for free?

In addition to a good skincare routine, getting enough and consistent sleep also helps you stay younger.

The body produces human growth hormone (HGH) which helps repair tissue damage during sleep.

HGH is a naturally occurring substance in the body produced by the pituitary gland and responsible for stimulating cell growth, reproduction and regeneration.

HGH secretion tends to peak during deep sleep as the body undergoes the process of repair and regeneration.

Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, an internist specializing in chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and pain management, said NBC News: ‘Also known as the ‘Fountain of Youth’ hormone, optimizing growth hormone keeps us young.

‘It keeps our muscles tight and our skin at its full thickness. Think of it as a healthy facelift for your entire body, including face, breasts and abs.’

Healthy beauty sleep lasts between seven and nine hours. For the best beauty sleep, experts recommend turning off technology and sleeping in a dark, cool room, which allows for a natural drop in core body temperature as we prepare for sleep.
