Australia reacts to MAFS’ Sara Mesa ‘gaslighting’ of groom Tim Calwell after bombshell Commitment Ceremony decision: ‘Free Tim!’

Co-stars called Married At First Sight bride Sara Mesa “cruel” for choosing to “stay” on the show despite her treatment of groom Tim Calwell on Sunday night.

And viewers couldn’t agree more, taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) after the explosive episode aired to call out the bride’s embarrassing behavior.

“Sara is honestly insufferable, Free Tim!!!” wrote one viewer.

Another referenced the 29-year-old nutritionist asking Tim for a hug, with the 31-year-old online business owner clearly looking very uncomfortable.

“Watching Tim and Sara hug each other feels like Winnie the Pooh hugging a Disney witch villain,” one fan joked.

‘Of course Sara said stay, because she’s horrible. Free Tim,” said another outraged viewer.

Mesa was caught in a cheating scandal last week at the couple’s Byron Bay retreat when it was revealed she had dinner with her ex-boyfriend.

Things came to a head during Sunday night’s explosive Commitment Ceremony when the Sydney native did damage control and locked her groom on the couch.

Fellow groom Jayden Eynaud spoke up and called out Sara for behaving untruthfully, accusing her of being much more dominant over Tim behind closed doors.

Sara closed his comments, saying she didn’t want input from other contestants as she worked on her relationship with Tim.

When there was a lull in the conversation, Tim tried to step in and express how he was feeling, saying, “I feel like there’s a lot to unpack.”

But Sara quickly talked over him and said, ‘Sorry, can I just finish what I said? I just got to a point and now I don’t know where I was.”

The relationship experts were baffled by her blatant disregard for Tim’s feelings about their crumbling union, despite her going on to say she would make him a ‘priority’.

What followed was an incredibly awkward moment as Sara tried to pull her groom Tim, 31, (pictured) into a tight hug on the sofa.

Contestant Stephen Stewart also stepped in to expose Sara’s hypocrisy, pointing out that she has vowed to make Tim a “priority” but continues to shut him down.

“If you stay in this moment, it feels like you’re staying for yourself. If you respected him and cared for him, you wouldn’t drag him along for the ride,” bride Jade Pywell added.

Moments later, it came as a shock to everyone when Sara defiantly wrote ‘Stay’, leaving Tim on the show with her for another week, despite his vote for ‘Leave’.

‘I honestly don’t care what anyone says. I know what I want to do. So I’m staying,” Sara said.
