Mum is slammed for showing off her ‘feral’ house after a week of not tidying – but others argue it’s ‘relatable’

A mother who shared a video of her ‘dirty’ house after not tidying up for a week has left thousands of Australians divided.

Dani Fraser, A Sydney woman who described herself as an ‘average person’ was confronted with the messy state she arrived home to after returning from a day out.

“This mess is overwhelming and horrible,” Dani said in a video.

‘I’ve had two jobs and I’m also a full-time student. If I come home and something is broken, I don’t feel like it.’

She showed a living room floor littered with grocery bags, clothes, high chairs, toys, and a kitchen with dirty dishes and countertops strewn with clutter.

The mother said that her husband also doesn’t like the mess, which is why the house looks like a ‘chaos’ after a week of not cleaning.

But the hardworking Aussie has a handy trick to complete the tedious task even when it seems impossible and she is completely unmotivated.

Dani simply sets a timer for 30 minutes and cleans up and tidies up as much as possible.

A mother who shared a video of her ‘dirty’ house after it had not been cleaned for a week has divided thousands of Australians

Dani Fraser, a self-proclaimed ‘average person’ from Sydney, was confronted with the state of mess she found at home after returning from a day out

The video showed a completely new living and kitchen space after a quick half hour clean-up. Everything was tidied up, thrown away and swept clean.

“We did it! We did a lot,” she said.

“If you struggle with cleaning and it feels overwhelming, try this. Set a timer… I promise you’ll feel so good when it’s done… like you’re a different person.”

While the mother admitted she still struggles with a lack of motivation, she said she knew she wasn’t the only one who felt like she was “freezing up” when faced with a huge cleaning task.

Australians had divided reactions to the video, with some calling it “refreshingly real”, while others called it “the height of laziness”.

“I really appreciate your honesty,” someone said.

“Sometimes life gets overwhelming and that’s okay,” said another.

Others refused to see the positive side, calling the level of clutter “crazy.”

“How can this be normal?” someone asked.

“I could never have my house in that state,” added another.

“Just clean as you go! I don’t understand how a house can get this dirty,” said a third.

Many people focused on Dani’s husband, who can be seen occasionally in the video cleaning.

“Your husband needs to do more!” said one.

Mothers of multiple children said the secret to banishing the overwhelming feeling of clutter is to clean regularly and declutter the house completely.

“One thing I learned a long time ago and I still apply it: I never leave a room empty-handed, I pick up what I can, or just one thing,” someone said.
