Australia Fair, Gold Coast: Man rushed to hospital after alleged stabbing at major shopping centre

A man has been rushed to hospital after being suspected of being stabbed at a major shopping centre on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

Emergency services were called to the Australia Fair shopping centre on Marine Parade in Southport at around 12.20pm on Friday.

A man in his early 40s was treated by paramedics for a wound to his chest.

He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

The incident is said to have taken place in a public toilet near the Woolworths supermarket in the city centre, 9News reports.

The venue is just across the road from the Gold Coast Show, which draws thousands of people to the Broadwater Parklands in temperatures of 31 degrees Celsius.
