I’m American and I have a serious issue with one Aussie McDonald’s menu item

An American traveler has exposed a glaring issue with McDonald’s Australia – and Australians are shocked to discover they have drawn the short straw.

Sammy K, from Chicago, has been traveling through Australia and stopped at a Macca’s restaurant.

She decided to order one of her favorite desserts – the McFlurry – but was shocked that the sweet treat wasn’t mixed Down Under.

“Culture shock: Australian McFlurrys are not mixed,” she said in a video. “It’s just ice cream with the topping on top.”

The American revealed that at home in the US, the McFlurry was more like the original treat where the ice cream and toppings were whipped together.

Macca’s customers across Australia are ‘furious’ at the change and fondly remember the popular dessert.

On Reddit, someone said: ‘Nostalgic about when McFlurry’s were actually stirred. Now it’s just ice cream with sprinkles.’

“I swear at least once a month I go on an angry rant about how it’s not even a MCFLURRY anymore. How are you going to call it an MCFLURRY if I expect to deliver the FLURRY?”

McDonald’s first introduced the McFlurry in 1997, and the thick plastic spoons could be hooked onto the machines to mix the ice cream.

But the plastic ban and outdated machines ensure that the dessert has now evolved into its new form.

“They used to mix it, but since they switched from plastic to wooden spoons, they are no longer in a hurry,” one woman explained. “But yes, environment.”

Foodies from Scotland, the Netherlands and New Zealand said their McFlurry treats were also no longer blended.

The American traveler was also shocked by several other aspects of McDonald’s in Australia.

‘They have chocolate ice cream here at McDonald’s – and they have a full coffee bar that you can order from McDonald’s! Very interesting stuff,” Sammy said.

McCafe was first introduced in Melbourne in 1993 and remains a popular destination for Australians to satisfy their coffee shop cravings.

“America only has two options for iced coffee and hot black coffee,” Sammy revealed.
