A P-plate driver of a large American car, who parked in two disabled spaces in a shopping center car park, has angered Australians.

Photos of the giant RAM ute taking over the disabled spots were taken at Upper Coomera Coles in the Gold Coast, Queensland, and shared to Reddit on Thursday.

“This man drives like an idiot,” said one, while another added: “If this is the car his parents gave him to drive on his red tires, it's easy to see why he's a whipper.

Others urged the Australian to inform authorities about the illegal parking law.

“Parked illegally in a disabled parking space – forward evidence to the council and main roads, fine is over $500,” said one.

“There should be an app for this sh**e. Take photos and send them in and the perpetrator will receive a fine in the mail,” wrote another.

In Queensland, the fine for illegally parking in a disabled parking space is $533 for drivers parked illegally in a disabled parking space. NSW drivers will receive $587 and the loss of one demerit point for breaking the rules.

The incident has also led to calls to ban novice drivers from driving larger vehicles such as the RAM ute.

'A P-plater is not allowed to drive a vehicle weighing three and a half tonnes. That's not a ute, it's a light truck. It's very different to drive,” said one.

The rules on whether a P-plate can power a RAM ute vary between states and territories.

In NSW, SA, Queensland and VIC, certain RAM devices are banned for P-Platers, and drivers are urged to check state government transport websites to find out which models are banned.

However, in the ACT, TAS, WA and NT versions, P Plate drivers are allowed to drive any RAM.
