Australians expose big problem with real estate agent’s ad for Melbourne house: ‘It makes people cringe’
An estate agent has been mercilessly mocked for flogging a suburban home while posing alongside a McLaren that costs more than the property itself.
Khalid Sarwari, director of Only Estate Agents in Narre Warren, about 40km south-east of Melbourne’s CBD, recently uploaded a video to social media to advertise a house he was selling in nearby Pakenham at a price of 650,000 dollars.
Posing in a three-piece suit with a pocket watch chain, an orange tie and large sunglasses, Mr Sarwari tells the audience ‘this property is ready to go’.
There is a free photograph of a white McLaren 720S – believed to belong to Mr Sarwari – which he later hinted was worth $680,000.
“The owners are very motivated to sell…” he says to the camera.
“They’ve updated a lot of things inside, refreshed most of the house, including replacing all the blinds,” adds Sarwari, as the camera pans to the mailbox with a sliding number “13” peeling off.
The video, which has amassed almost 60,000 views, was flooded with jokes by Austrians on social media.
“Are you doing a morning shift before your wedding?” wrote one.
Others were more worthy.
“I’m not sure if you realize but in that suit wearing sunglasses and turning on the car just makes people cringe,” wrote one.

Another accused him of being an ‘insecure soul’.
‘Narcissism has been overcome. It is not a car promotion. You are there to sell a home, not a scam,” they wrote.
However, Mr. Sarwari was not to be left behind.
He playfully responded to most of the comments, describing his McLaren as ‘just a lazy run’ car.
He also appeared to brag about the value of the car when someone asked him about the lease payments.
“No idea,” he replied. “But most banks have calculators on the site, $680,000 (and) you have to get the numbers.”

Many also asked for the estate agent’s choice of attire, which included bright sunglasses and a three-piece suit with an orange tie
He told one critic, who compared its style and inspiration to the 2013 Martin Scorsese-directed black comedy starring Leonardo DiCaprio, that “The Wolf of Wall Street is child’s play my friend”.
He also appeared to join one user’s mockery of the house.
One commenter said they thought ‘shorts and a Hilux would suit (the property) better’ to which Sarwari replied: ‘Singled and a VL Turbo?’
The property doesn’t seem to sell despite the great marketing video.
Daily Mail Australia approached Mr Sarwari for comment.
