After reporting the incident to Woolworths, he said the supermarket told him they would refund him $5.

Mr Patel said he told the shop he didn’t need the money, mainly because he is a vegetarian and doesn’t have much choice when it comes to food.

“They should raise the standards when they serve the whole of Australia and something like this happens,” he said.

“And I saw that it wasn’t just about me. More and more people have found bugs and insects in their salads.”

A Woolworths spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia they take all customer feedback “seriously”.

“(We) understand that this must have been an unwanted surprise for this customer,” he said.
