Aussie woman catfished by man claiming to be Hollywood actor James Spader

An Australian woman has spoken out about the devastating impact of catfishing after her sister, who is convinced she is in a relationship with actor James Spader, missed their mother’s death while trying to meet the Hollywood star.

* Jenny told Daily Mail Australia that her 55-year-old younger sister believes The Blacklist actor has had a crush on her for more than two years.

Jenny said she “supposedly” met the actor at a cafe in Australia about nine years ago.

She explained that her sister has given the ‘con man’ more than $100,000 after borrowing $9,500 from him, taking at least $70,000 from their parents’ trust, and even selling her house to send the ‘actor’ money.

“This is what she told us, that they met him in a cafe, whether it was him or not, we don’t know,” Jenny said.

“She had been taking funds from my parents account, which comes down to elder abuse, until I had to step in because I had power of attorney and cut her off.

“He sold his house and promised that as soon as it was resolved he would return the money, but nothing has been returned.”

James Spader is an American actor best known for playing eccentric characters in movies like Sex, Lies, and Videotape, Stargate, Crash, and Secretary, and for starring in television series like Boston Legal, The Office, and The Blacklist.

The 62-year-old has two children with his first wife, Victoria Kneel, whom he divorced in 2004. Since then, he has been in a long-term relationship and shares a son with Alien co-star Leslie Stefanson.

Spader is known to be notoriously private and does not use any form of social media.

Jenny said her sister refuses to elaborate on their relationship after family and friends tried to convince her it’s not real.

The couple is believed to be communicating on Snapchat to protect the man’s privacy, as the app does not record conversations.

The relationship has taken a mental, physical and emotional toll on the family and came to a breaking point when Jenny watched her mother die in June of this year, while her sister “chased” him.

“Poor mom, she was bedridden for six months and they told her he was coming to visit her and she waited and waited but he never showed,” Jenny said as she fought back tears.

“Worst of all, the weekend our mum died, my sister went to Sydney to meet him, of course, and that didn’t happen.

‘Watching your mother die and watching her die while your own sister isn’t there… our relationship will never be the same. Never.’

Jenny said her mother’s death should have been a “wake-up call” for her sister, but sadly it has alienated her even further.

The fisherman has used multiple excuses each time they were supposed to meet, including being infected with Covid, needing an updated pacemaker, having no funds due to a divorce, and being under investigation by the IRS.

“Last thing is, he was in an accident and they had to cover it up,” Jenny said.

“I said, ‘but he’s been promoting the tenth season of The Blacklist,’ and was met with, ‘well, they can CGI (computer-generated imagery) anything and they’re not putting out press releases.

Jenny said her sister was packed up and ready for a ‘private plane’ to pick her up on multiple occasions, but it was always canceled at the last minute.

His sister even flew to Canada in October 2021 to meet the man, but never saw him in person after being given another excuse.

Jenny’s sister even sent a photo of the actor’s friend that he had sent her. After performing a reverse search on the image, Jenny discovered that the person in the image had been dead for six years.

Jenny said the catfisher took advantage of her sister during a time when she was vulnerable and manipulated her to the point of withdrawing from her family and friends.

‘This is all very sad. She’s fine and she really jumped in and she’s engaged. There’s no use talking to her…just carry on,” Jenny said.

I don’t know why he can’t give us more information, why we can’t talk to him.

He said he can’t answer questions. She simply says that it is not her story to tell. She can’t divulge any information. To me, they are just bulls.

They told her to keep it a secret and she said she would. Everything we have read on the net, the bells begin to ring. So many things don’t add up, however, for my sister, everything adds up.

Jenny, who has a degenerative autoimmune disease and was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, said she has to care for her elderly father who has dementia alone because her sister has other priorities that are “all about him.”

Asked what she would say if she could give the man a message, Jenny replied: “It would be ‘What the hell? How dare you put my mother through what you put her through, how dare you not let our sister to talk to us and only talk to you”.

“I don’t give a damn who he is, what he has or where he came from.

‘Somewhere in the back of my mind, I hope it turns out to be true for my sister, but it doesn’t seem real.

“It seems out of the realm of possibility for a billionaire to have no money. James Spader wouldn’t ask a random Australian woman for money.

Jenny said the whole family thinks she’s “crazy” and wants her sister to “wake up” to see that the con man has destroyed her life and relationships.

Our big brother thinks she’s crazy. I think she is totally crazy. My daughter thinks she’s crazy and she doesn’t talk to her at all and she has removed her as a family,” Jenny said.

“I don’t think he’s seen what he’s done and how it affected everyone…or he’s done it and that’s why he’s distanced himself from everyone and that makes him just as bad.”

Jenny said she hopes her story helps others who have fallen victim to the same catfisher or other similar scams.

“It’s devastating in every way, let alone the person going through it is so tied up and still thinking it’s real,” Jenny said.

‘In any case, I hope my sister’s story helps someone else realize that what they are going through is not real. It’s not a normal relationship, and it’s not how the family is treated.
