Aussie visits famous ‘Outback Steakhouse’ in America and is left shocked with a very surprising find

It’s the American restaurant franchise with a very Australian name.

And now a TikTok star from Down Under has taken to social media with a surprisingly positive review of the world-famous Outback Steakhouse chain.

Jesse Willesee, the son of respected TV journalist Terry Willesee, said he first wanted to make a video about how the eatery wasn’t Australian at all, but was instead impressed.

The restaurant chain, first established in the US in 1988, has ‘Australian’ dishes on its menu, including ‘Kookaburra Wings’ (chicken wings in blue cheese dressing), ‘Gold Coast Coconut Shrimp’ (fried shrimp in beer batter) and the infamous ‘Blooming Onion’.

Jesse posted his review in a video on his Instagram page, explaining that he visited an Outback Australia franchise in Laughlin, Nevada.

“I went there to make a video on how [the Outback Steakhouse] it’s not Australian,” he said.

‘What I didn’t expect was that it was like this [would be] absolutely delicious.’

Jesse said he had a rib eye steak, but added that he was very impressed with the “Bloomin’ Onion,” a signature dish of the eatery.

The starter, described in the menu as a ‘True Outback original’, consists of ‘hand-cut’ fried onions combined with a spicy sauce specially created by the restaurant.

“The Bloomin’ Onion was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted,” the social media star raved in his review.

He also raved about the staff, giving the Nevada restaurant an “8 out of 10” rating.

Last year he discussed how the two countries have vastly different tastes and dating cultures.

Jesse revealed that he has spent half his life in each country, as his father Terry is Australian and his mother Melissa is American.

“As far as dating goes, I feel like in America the boys really have to win over the girls,” he said.

“They’re really trying to get these girls, they’re really competing. They want to get one.

‘In Australia it’s like the women are trying to get the guys and the guys can just behave however they want.

‘I do not know what it is. It’s a great deal by Australia, keep it coming’.

Jesse, who goes by the stage name Jesse Sunset, also revealed that going to the beach is very different in both countries.

‘In Australia you might take a towel with you. And that’s it,” he said.

‘In America you have towels, parasols, a cool box full of drinks. Maybe you have something to eat. Maybe you have a tent you’re pitching.”

His presentation on a ‘unique perspective’ on life in the two countries was viewed more than 64,000 times.
