“Oh a rocket!” noted one.

“It got the corner. Oh my God! Right in the corner! That’s a 75-yard punt on one.

‘Holy cow! You couldn’t do better! That’s a game ball if it turns out the way you expect it to for this Georgia defense.”

The freshman’s brilliant punt led to Georgia’s second score of the game, pushing them to a 14-3 lead – and the credit kept coming for the young Aussie.

American sports analyst Pat McAfee – who has scored eight years for the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts – tweeted: ‘WHAT A BOMB FROM GEORGIA. 75 YARD PIECE OF PERFECTION’.

Others called it “point of the year” and “best point ever,” with the stunning moment immediately going viral.

The 75-yard stunner is the longest of Thorson’s college career, and his coach Kirby Smart was all smiles.

“They’re doing a great job preparing those guys for coming to the States, being part of a college atmosphere, being part of a team. And he’s accepted that very well,’ said Smart.
