Australian cricketer Steve Smith has suffered a painful hand injury during a net session in Adelaide ahead of the second Test match against India.
Things went from bad to worse for Australia, with Smith hitting his right hand while doing throwdowns with teammate Marnus Labuschange on Tuesday afternoon.
Smith, who ended his session immediately, subsequently felt serious discomfort as a team physio inspected the injury.
It is not known how serious the injury to Smith’s hand is, but the alarming incident has exacerbated Australia’s injury problems, with Josh Hazlewood already out with a side strain.

Smith has had an unfortunate run in Test cricket of late, being dismissed for a golden duck in the first innings against India and scoring 17 off 60 in the second.
His last century came against England in June 2023, meaning the Australian star has gone 23 innings without a ton.
