  • She wasn’t worried, she still loves her ‘dress’ and shared the find on Facebook.

An Australian shopper found the perfect sundress during a trip to Kmart, but didn’t realize until she got home that it was actually a maternity top.

The Melbourne style lover spotted the $20 ‘dress’ another customer had thrown away outside the maternity section and, thinking it was ‘cute’, picked it up for herself.

It wasn’t until she got home that she realized it was maternity clothes, but she didn’t care and shared her find on a to post to the popular Kmart Home Hacks & Decor Facebook group.

“Found this in a random hallway thinking it was a cute dress, took it home and realized it was a maternity top. Super comfortable and breathable material,” she wrote in the post.

She had purchased the thrift retailer’s maternity sleeveless ruched bodice top with a ‘Mush ging’ print and tie straps.

Members of the group were impressed by her ‘adorable’ makeshift summer ‘dress’ and told the woman to ‘ignore etiquette’ if she loved the outfit.

I wouldn’t have known it was a maternity dress if you hadn’t said so. You looked perfect and quite comfortable in it. It doesn’t matter what the label says as long as you love it,” said one woman.

‘I have this dress too! I didn’t realize it was motherhood,’ he wrote a second.

One woman asked why she didn’t realize the garment was a maternity top, while others worried that it was too short.

It had no label. I realized it was maternity when ads appeared on my Facebook feed,” the Kmart customer responded.

She added that she bought a size 16 thinking it was for kids and normally wears an AU8-10, so the top was long enough to look like a dress.

Some users also admitted to unknowingly shopping in the maternity aisle.

“My sister and I would always accidentally end up in the maternity sections of stores, admiring everything, and then realizing it was all maternity,” one woman laughed.

“I’ve done this before…but don’t be offended when people ask when it’s your turn,” another quipped.

“My favorite skirt is a Kmart maternity skirt that I had no idea was maternity,” said a third.
