Aussie reality TV star reveals horror moment her partner was almost killed in Bali: ‘He was hit with so much force they had to remove his spleen’
Former Bachelor star Kristen Czyszek opened up about the horrific moment her partner Sam Hourigan was nearly killed in a car crash in Bali over the weekend.
The 30-year-old reality star and her diving partner were on holiday when they were hit by a man on a scooter who was driving on the wrong side of the road without lights.
Sam was on the Padang Padang Bridge in the Uluwatu area when he was hit. Another scooter then ran over his body and he was left unconscious on the road.
He was rushed to hospital with a shattered spleen, broken ribs and life-threatening internal bleeding.
Sam had to undergo life-saving surgery to remove his spleen and is now recovering in intensive care, facing bills of more than $50,000.
His health insurance will not cover his medical bills due to a “minor technical exclusion.”
The Bachelor season 7 contestant took to Instagram to ask for donations via a GoFundMe to help cover her partner’s hospital costs.
“He hit Sam with so much force that the hospital had to remove his spleen to save his life,” Kristen wrote.

She said the accident nearly cost her partner her life and the nature of the accident was not covered despite having travel insurance.
Sam says he’s lucky to be alive, but he’s devastated that he can no longer be a freediver because he no longer has a spleen.
The reality star and her freediving partner were on vacation when he was hit by a man on a scooter who was driving on the wrong side of the road without his lights on
“Nothing can prepare you for the amount of grief, shock, anger and sadness you feel when you watch your loved one fight for their life,” Kristen said.
Kristen started a GoFundMe to help pay her hospital bills, which have now totaled more than $50,000.
She asked her followers to ‘give generously’.

“Thank you to everyone who has already donated and shown your incredible kindness and support. I am forever in your debt,” she wrote.
