Members of the Australian women’s cycling team have revealed their emotional tributes to cyclist Melissa Hoskins, who was allegedly murdered by her champion cycling husband Rohan Dennis.
Hoskins, 32, rode for Australia at the Olympic Games in London and Rio de Janeiro.
Her husband, Olympic medal-winning cyclist Dennis, is accused of murdering the mother of two by running her over with his car outside their Adelaide home.
The former world champion was arrested in January and charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving without due care and endangering life.
Police allege Dennis recklessly hit the 32-year-old mother of two with his car outside their $2.45 million Medindie home in Adelaide’s north on December 30. He has not entered a plea.
Georgia Baker, a former teammate of Hoskins who is currently competing in Paris, decided to purchase the team’s watches in honor of Hoskins.
Hoskins had previously given Baker one of the watches as a gift during the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
The team, consisting of Baker, Alexandra Manly, Chloe Moran, Maeve Plouffe and Sophie Edwards, posted a photo on Instagram earlier this week of themselves wearing the watches.

“Georgie gave us these precious watches to remember this moment in time,” they wrote.
“It’s a way to commemorate the team and our journey together.
‘A way to keep us united and remember the memories of this wonderful experience.
‘For Georgia’s first Olympics in 2016, the late Melissa Hoskins gave her and her teammates one and she still cherishes it. She wanted to give us the same gift.
“We couldn’t be more grateful.”
AusCycling CEO Jesse Korf said the Games will be extra emotional for riders who knew Melissa.
“There are a few riders who followed Melissa by joining the national program when Melissa was still there,” Korf said News Corp.
‘Especially the older endurance and sprint riders on the track.
‘It will certainly be extra emotional for some.
‘It’s been a while, there have obviously been moments of silence, commemorations and also a lot of support from the community.

“That emotion is very personal.”
The couple’s dream life suddenly collapsed on the evening of December 30, 2023.
Emergency services arrived at the couple’s luxury home in Adelaide’s north just after 8pm.

South Australian police have arrested and charged Mr Dennis with the death of Ms Hoskins, who allegedly struck her while driving a pick-up truck at around 8pm.
Ms Hoskins, 32, was seriously injured in the crash and paramedics took her to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment. She died in hospital.
