An Australian man has been found dead in Bali. An investigation is underway.

Steven James Hunter, 68, was found dead earlier this week at his home in Kuta on the southwest coast of Bali, Indonesia.

Mr Hunter is from Newcastle in New South Wales and lived in Darwin before moving to Bali in 2021.

Denpasar police spokesman Ketut Sukadi said Hunter was found outside his room at the Kubuku Suli Homestay in Kuta.

He said police investigated the crime scene and questioned local residents.

Widiyanto, who lived next door to Mr Hunter, told police he heard what sounded like someone falling and later saw his neighbour lying on the ground.

He called another resident, Aldi, for help and asked them to call the host family owner.

They tried to help Mr. Hunter, but could not measure his heart rate. They covered his body with a sheet.
