Australian makeup artist Ashlee day has taken the internet by storm after creating a full face of makeup using just Kmart’s affordable Oxx Beauty range – and she’s raving about the results.
She bought 23 makeup and skincare products, including a 22-piece brush set, for $184.15, proving that you don’t have to spend a lot of money on high-end beauty purchases.
“I think the prices are incredible, it’s affordable,” she said.
The highlight of the collection was the Blur Concealer Wand ($6), which she thought was a “dupe” of Maybelline’s $23 Instant Age Rewind Concealer.
‘I’m obsessed with this concealer; it looks so good,” she said, surprised by the budget-friendly formula.
“It’s lightweight and buildable.”
Another crowd-pleaser was Oxx Beauty’s Dewy Skin Serum ($6), which Ashlee described as giving her skin a “nice plumpness and dewyness.”
“If this stuff is good, we’ve hit the jackpot,” she said, adding, “It immediately hit my skin. It seems like a regular primer, I like it.”

Kmart’s $8 primer has also drawn comparisons to cult favorites like Milk’s Hydro Grip Primer ($66) and Elf’s Power Grip Primer ($24).
“It has the same consistency as the Elf – one of my favorite primers in the world,” said Ashlee. “It’s very sticky, but I don’t like the smell.”
Ashlee then used Oxx Beauty’s Illuminous Skin Tints, which retail for just $12.
‘I like how it flows, and I like the brushes. It has given my skin a really nice glow, but it does improve my fine lines and pores a bit,” she admitted.
However, the Blur Concealer Wand ($6) was a big hit.
She also praised the $8 Contour Wand, comparing it to Charlotte Tilbury’s iconic version, but with more product.

She even compared the $4 beauty blender to more expensive versions, calling it “perfect” and “so gentle.”
The Illuminate and Bake Powder was another favorite: “I’m obsessed with the pink powder,” Ashlee revealed, while the bronzer ($6) also impressed her.
“It’s a big yes. But it is pigmented, so use a light hand,” she advised.
Ashlee admitted that she initially expected to be disappointed, but was instead “overwhelmingly impressed with the budget makeup
