Aussie influencer Jamie Zhu gets Sydney millionaire’s advice on affording $16m Point Piper home

A Sydney millionaire has shared the “best advice ever” on how he was able to afford his $16 million luxury property.

Popular Australian influencer Jamie Zhu, 28, interviewed Justin Doobov, chief executive of Intelligent Finance, at his home in the affluent eastern Sydney suburb of Point Piper.

Zhu shared a video of the friendly chat with his 2.2 million TikTok followers on Tuesday with the caption “asking Sydney millionaires how they got rich.”

The 28-year-old is seen ringing the doorbell at the Wolseley Road property before asking Mr Doobov how he managed to live in such a nice house.

‘Working 18 hours a day, seven days a week,’ replied Mr. Doobov.

Doobov told Zhu that he runs his finance company and started in the industry 22 years ago after studying finance and accounting. He also had an engineering background.

Zhu then asks Mr. Doobov to recommend wealth building strategies to people who want to live in a house like his.

His simple advice: ‘Either earn more or spend less’.

“Buy the cheapest car your ego can afford,” he added.

“I saved money over time and invested it, so now my decision is not if I can afford it, but what color I want it.”

Mr. Doobov reflected on the difficulty of earning his first million dollars, explaining that at first his focus was on taking care of customers and not on making a profit.

“I always say the first mile is the hardest,” he said.

‘You start out trying to make the first 100,000 and then you hit a million. If you try to win a million, you will be taking too many risks.

‘When I set up the business, it was about building the business and not worrying about profit for the first two or three years. I just wanted to concentrate on taking care of the customers.’
