Former world champion Ebanie Bridges was very impressed with Jake Paul, who added a new MMA scalp to his collection by knocking out former UFC star Mike Perry in six rounds.

Perry, a last-minute replacement for Mike Tyson after the boxing icon pulled out of his planned showdown with Paul, put in a valiant performance, even testing the YouTube sensation at times during a gruelling bout.

While certainly no wimp, the 32-year-old Bare Knuckle Fighting champion was no match for his 27-year-old opponent in Tampa.

After beating Perry in the first and second rounds, Paul knocked him out with a lightning-fast combination in the sixth round until there was no turning back.

Somehow, Perry managed to drag himself to his feet for the third time, despite the terrible punishment he had just been given.

But as he limped around the ring, the referee rightly waved off the bout and Paul celebrated his final knockout, a highlight of his career.

Bridges was positive about what she saw from Paul on Sunday (AEST) and posted her thoughts on social media.

“Jake Paul looks amazing! Great set ups and discipline,” she posted on X.

Someone pointed out Paul’s weight advantage in the comments and the ‘Blonde Bomber’ responded: ‘Yeah, but it’s the mindsets and the positions. He intimidates him not only with his weight, but by boxing him and using his IQ.’

After the match, Bridges noted that many well-known boxers watched Paul’s fight, despite what some may say.

“Look at all these “real” pro boxers tweeting about Jake Paul, everyone is listening and talking lol,” she posted.

A fan responded that Paul also gives female boxers a good chance, to which she replied: ‘(He) gives a lot of people a chance.’

Paul’s win over Perry means he is now clear to fight Tyson in November.

However, Paul immediately wanted to thank his brave opponent for his efforts that evening.

“He’s tough,” he said of Perry. “I’m sorry it took so long. I just hit him too hard, but he took a lot of damage. That’s a W baby, I’m so excited.”

Not only did Paul tell Tyson to “sign” the contract before their scheduled fight in November, he also challenged UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira.

“Alex Pereira, you said you wanted to box… I’m the king of this, come here and we can make it happen,” he said.

“I want you, Alex Pereira.”

Paul has now won four in a row since suffering the first defeat of his short-lived professional career against Tommy Fury last year.
