Fed up Australian fans are considering returning home, even as the Socceroos have two games left in the FIFA World Cup as accommodation problems, long queues and abusive supporters become too much.
There have been many reports of serious problems in the fan villages set up for the many football fans who have traveled to Qatar for the World Cup.
While many Australians are having the time of their lives enjoying Qatar’s hospitality, the experience has been a nightmare for others.

Qatar World Cup officials are offering full refunds and new accommodations for fans who had to wait all night for their rooms to be made ready, only to experience leaky bathrooms, sewage and no hot water.
There have been reports of frustrating problems in the Free Zone Fan Village, Barwa Barahat Al Janoub Housing Unit, Fan Village Cabins Zafaran and Saffron Fan Village.

“Has anyone else in the fan villages had a terrible experience? Leak in bathroom causes flooding, no hot water, customer service is inundated with complaints from people,” one Aussie fan posted.
“I honestly don’t know what to do. We are considering selling our tickets and leaving early, but I think our chances of getting a refund from the accommodation are slim.”
Another fan said their experience was even worse.
“We are in Baraw village and our apartment has been flooded with sewage for 2 days in a row. That said, they think they’ve sorted it out now and there’s a team of cleaners here, but they also said so yesterday,” they posted.

“We gave up and found shelter elsewhere. If you need a man’s number, I can give it to you. He is a property manager and rents out furnished apartments by the month, but just stay as long as you need. It’s the same price.’
Australian fans aren’t the only ones fed up.

International fans have also reacted online, claiming that there were not enough buses, that the air conditioning was failing and that the accommodation booked and paid for was not available.
“The fan village at #Zafaran is comparable to a refugee camp. The #SupremeCommittee has not given this much thought. It gives an even tarnished view of why @FIFAWorldCup is hosted by Qatar,” one fan wrote.
“Half the population of a country staying for a month would never be reached.”

Many supporters are unimpressed with the management of the fan villages, where they face delays getting into their accommodation – if it is ready at all
Another posted in the early hours of the morning to reveal that they still couldn’t access their room, along with hundreds of others – and this was just in the last few days, not leading up to the tournament.
“Management delegation in the village of Saffron fans. Hundreds of fans who made a reservation have not been given their room on the pretext that there are no rooms available and that there are no double rooms?’ they posted.
