- David Chahine owns Primal Glass Replacement
- He struggled in school and now earns $5,000 a week
A troubled teenager who was expelled from ten different schools tells how he has turned his life around – with his glass company set to make $1 million this year.
David Chahine, 26, from Sydney, always had trouble concentrating in school and eventually dropped out to complete Year 10.
His teachers told him he would never amount to anything and admitted his parents were ‘heartbroken’ by his behaviour.
During the many times he was suspended or expelled from school, Mr. Chahine helped his brother and father with backbreaking work.
His father had been involved in the construction industry, which sparked a keen interest in Mr. Chahine.
In 2020, he launched his company Primal Glass Replacement, which now rakes in $5,000 a week, with total revenue expected to rise to $1 million this financial year.

“I could hardly sit still in class, I couldn’t concentrate and I never did my homework,” Mr Chahine told Ny Breaking Australia.
He explained that he had a learning disability and that his school had suggested he take medication.
But his parents believed that such a thing was not natural, and they told the school staff that he would not take any pills.
“The school basically said, ‘Well, if you can’t follow them, we don’t want you in the classroom,’” he said.
Mr. Chahine was in fourth grade when he was expelled from his first school.
When he was in high school, he only stayed at one school for two terms, among other expulsions, eventually attending an institution that catered to students with behavioral problems.
“School was very bad for me, I hardly ever went,” he said.
‘The teachers would say, ‘You’ll never amount to anything’ or ‘You’ll be a garbage man’ – I was always let down.

“My parents were heartbroken, my mother cried every time I was expelled from school.”
Mr. Chahine’s parents separated when he was a teenager, and the businessman credits his father with helping him get out of his bad habits.
He had almost $15,000 saved when he decided to start his business three years ago, and with the help of his parents, he was able to slowly build his brand.
While the first year was slow, business started to pick up in the second year through word of mouth.
Mr. Chahine’s team consists of his brother, a good friend and several subcontractors.
With his new success he even bought a BMW M3.
His advice for others who have been told they may never amount to anything? ‘Never give up.’
‘The sky is the limit. Even if it seems like something is not possible, believe me, it is,” he said.
