Aussie driver’s sneaky act after being fed up with ‘selfish’ parkers in major cities: ‘Everyone needs to try this’

A ‘furious’ Australian fed up with selfish neighbours taking up more parking space than necessary decided to take matters into his own hands.

Matt de Boer, a former AFL player living in Sydney, discussed the “cunning” trick he used to “educate” the selfish parkers in a podcast with Dylan Buckley.

“In Sydney you know what it’s like sometimes to get a parking space,” he said in a video.

‘And right in front of our house there was clearly room for four cars. You could see with the naked eye that there was room for four, but from the way people parked, there were always three.

“And I thought, selfish parking, it made me furious because I came home and couldn’t park in front of the door. I had to try around the corner or it would be a long walk.”

While Matt initially considered writing a note to the “selfish” neighbors, he decided there had to be a better way to get the message across.

“So I went to buy some fluorescent masking tape and Rach just said, ‘What are you doing?’”

Matt waited until it was dark before he went outside to measure the area of ​​four parking spaces, marking each spot with fluorescent tape.

And his creative approach worked.

“And sure enough, the next day I came back and there were three cars parked beautifully in their spot. I took the fourth one,” he said.

“People like to be led, mate. You just have to show them once in a while.”

Australians were impressed with Matt’s direct approach to the common parking problem and praised him for tackling the issue himself.

‘Absolutely brilliant. I’ve been saying this for years that councils should have queues for all the parking spaces on every street. That’s why big car parks work, because they have dedicated spaces,’ said one.

Another suggested that Matt take it one step further and use spray paint to make the new parking spaces “official.”

This came after motorists in Melbourne were left furious after seeing a giant GMC pickup truck taking up two parking spaces.

Many angry Australians are fed up with these giant pickup trucks and are demanding drastic action be taken against the owners.

Some councils in Australia are even exploring the possibility of charging drivers of large vehicles extra to park their cars.
