A father-of-two who was seriously injured after falling from a moped in Bali is back on Australian soil after generous donors raised thousands of dollars for a Medivac flight to take him home.
Kevin Malligan, 24, traveled to the Indonesian island for New Year's Eve celebrations just weeks before his second child was due to be born in February when the holiday was abruptly cut short on December 29.
The Sydney man was riding a moped driven by a friend when he fell off and hit his head on the road after the vehicle hit a bump.
Mr Malligan suffered serious head and neck injuries in the fall and underwent brain surgery at a hospital in Nusa Dua, about 40km from Denpasar.
He finally landed on Australian soil on Thursday night after Australians raised more than $100,000 for a medivac flight from Indonesia to Sydney.

His wife Leah, who is 32 weeks pregnant and due to give birth next month, also flew home from Bali after joining her husband earlier this week.
He remains in a coma at Nepean Hospital near Penrith in Sydney's west.
The father-of-two will continue to receive treatment for his serious injuries after suffering a brain haemorrhage and a broken neck in the fall.
Jodie French, Mr Malligan's mother-in-law, posted an update GoFundMe on Thursday.
'Kevin was taken from Bali today and will arrive back at Sydney Airport this evening at around 6.10pm. He will then be transported to Nepean Hospital,” she wrote.
“Kev remains in critical condition. We thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts who made this possible in such a very short time.'

Ahead of the flight home, Malligan's wife Leah shared photos of her husband's hospital bed in Bali.
“No goodbyes but see you home soon,” she wrote.
She thanked family, friends and strangers who shared their love and support.
“Happy New Year to all our friends, family and community of Kev and I.
'I would like to thank everyone who has donated, shared, liked and messaged me over the past few days. Your constant kindness, love and support will help us get through this difficult time in our lives.
'Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. I'm so grateful that my son is coming home.”
Mrs Malligan told Daily Mail Australia earlier this week that her husband was not doing anything foolish when the crash occurred.

“He and his friend just hit a bump in the road, four minutes away from where they were supposed to be,” she said.
She had tried to get him travel insurance that covered scooters, but nothing was available, meaning the family's medical costs were already $90,000 before generous Australians funded a medivac flight.
