Aussie actor removes $10k worth of tattoos after losing out on major Netflix role: ‘They decided they didn’t want to take me on’

An Australian actor has made the brave decision to remove $10,000 worth of tattoos after being rejected by Netflix.

Samuel Davies, who chronicled his journey on TikTok, explained how he landed the role of Colin Donnell’s body double in US TV series Arrow, only for Netflix to pull out because his tattoos required daily coverage.

“I liked my tattoos and I wanted to keep them, but here’s the gimmick,” he told viewers.

“I decided to change careers and take up acting and that was recently a Netflix series where I had the role of dual role of the lead.”

“And then they decided they didn’t want to hire me because they didn’t want to cover up my tattoos every day, so I decided to take them off and it’s been a two-year process so far,” Samuel revealed.

So far, Davies has had six laser removal sessions, each costing between $500 and $600.

He explained that patients must wait between sessions.

“You have to wait eight weeks between each session for it to heal and go back in,” he explained.

“The longer you wait, the more your body starts to eat away at the ink… you can see that some areas have taken longer,” he added.

The treatment also requires patients to avoid sunlight for four weeks and water for four to eight weeks.

Despite the setbacks, the actor, who appeared as an extra in Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 film Elvis, remains determined to complete the removal within a year.

He shared an update with followers on social media, revealing that he is still actively pursuing acting.

‘They’re still acting and they’re much easier to hide now that they fade away like this. “I have been in a few films and a few TV series,” he said.
