Major emergency in Sydney as busy Auburn Central shopping centre is evacuated
Shoppers have been evacuated from a busy shopping centre in Sydney’s west amid speculation an “active bomb” has been found in a car park.
Officers rushed to the Auburn Central shopping center, about 12 miles (20 kilometers) west of the city’s business district, around noon on Wednesday.
A man claimed in a post on X that an “active bomb” had been found in the parking lot.
Others said the centre was “swarming” with officers and alarms were going off.
New South Wales Police confirmed a police operation was underway in the car park of a shopping centre on Wales Lane in Auburn.
“Officers from the Auburn Police Area Command, along with specialist officers, are in attendance,” police said in a statement.
‘There is an evacuation going on in the shopping center.
Queen Street, Vales Lane, Auburn Road, Harrow Road and Mary Street are closed. The public is advised to avoid the area.

Members of the Public Order Riot Police were seen at the incident in Auburn
‘There is no further information available at this time.’
Riot police also visited the shopping center.
A large group of people wearing vests gathered outside the entrance to the shopping centre as the police operation was underway.
