Free VPN Candidate Atlas VPN’s journey to secure people’s online activities has finally come to an end.
The popular VPN service will stop on April 24, 2024. A difficult decision, according to the provider, due to increased competition and rising costs.
While free plan users should find a suitable replacement soon, paid users will be automatically transferred to Atlas’ sister company NordVPN for the remainder of their subscription period.
Atlas VPN users migrate to NordVPN
“Atlas VPN was founded with the mission to provide secure, accessible, and easy-to-use VPN services. Despite our best efforts and the incredible support of our users, we have encountered insurmountable challenges,” the provider wrote in an announcement.
“These include rapidly advancing technological demands, a highly competitive market and the escalating costs of delivering top services. These factors have led us to conclude that continuing Atlas VPN is not sustainable in the long term.”
AtlasVPN guarantees a seamless transition for all premium users. In the coming days, they will receive an email from NordVPN with a link to create a password and more details on how to activate their new account. They can then continue using the service for the remainder of their Atlas subscription.
AtlasVPN invites everyone to contact us if they would like to unsubscribe. For more information, visit the Atlas announcement.
For our part, we can’t recommend NordVPN enough: the service recently even beat out its old competitor ExpressVPN to become No. 1 on our list of the best VPN services out there right now.
Big news coming – @techradar just named us the number one VPN service! It is a great honor and an even greater responsibility. We can promise one thing: NordVPN will continue to set the standard for best-in-class cybersecurity.March 4, 2024
“As we move into this next chapter with NordVPN, we are confident in our ability to provide you with exceptional service and the utmost security online,” AtlasVPN said.
Super fast and secure, according to our latest round of internal testing, NordVPN is packed with security features that range from old classics – like a kill switch and a strict no-log policy – to valuable extras like the Meshnet tool, which lets you connect up to 60 devices connect anywhere in the world in one secure network.
NordVPN also has great unblocking capabilities, whether you need a powerful streaming VPN or want to bypass other geo-restrictions.
For those of you using the freemium version of Atlas VPN, we recommend checking out PrivadoVPN Free and Proton VPN Free, which currently top our rankings as the best free VPN apps on the market.

2. Protect your online security and strengthen your online privacy abroad.
