Atlanta police are investigating an active shooter near a downtown hospital after reports of gunfire

Atlanta police have launched a manhunt after a long gunman opened fire on a hospital, injuring “several people.”
Officers were called to Northside Medical Midtown, on West Peachtree Street, after reports of an active gunman in a building.
Images of the suspected shooter have been released by authorities, with the suspect still on the loose.
Surveillance footage shows a man wearing a face mask and a bag on the front of his body aiming a gun in what appears to be a reception area.
Another image shows him without a mask and his hood in an elevator. No arrests have been made at this time and officers are warning everyone in the area to take shelter.
In a statement, the Atlanta Police Department said: “We are working on an active shooter situation in a building on West Peachtree St, between 12th St and 13th St.
“We are aware of several injuries. There is no suspect in custody.

“Everyone in the area is being asked to secure their building and shelter. Anyone not in the area is asked to stay away. ‘
According to WSB-TV, dozens of heavily armed officers are at the scene and witnesses have seen several people being taken out of the building on stretchers.
