Atlanta mother, 34, arrested after ‘shooting her 17-year-old son during a fight over a VIDEO GAME console’
An Atlanta mother has been arrested after shooting and wounding her 17-year-old son during an argument over a video game console.
Jaquana Butler, 34, was at her southwestern home Thursday night when she and the teen started arguing.
She pulled out a gun, police said, and shot her son several times.
Officers were called to the house on Sparks Street at around 10:20 p.m. – near the home made famous in Tyler Perry’s Madea film series.
The teen was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. His condition is unknown.

Butler was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and cruelty to children.
She is well known to the police, with a record dating back to 2010.
Butler has been accused of reckless endangerment over the years; abandonment of a child; fake; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; aggravated battery; armed robbery; falsely reporting a crime; and gun ownership.
In 2012, she was charged with child abuse.
In 2019, she was found guilty as the first offender of four counts of second-degree child abuse, child abuse by causing excessive physical or mental pain, and family violence in a 2016 incident, according to court documents.
She was sentenced to six years’ probation.
In April of this year, she was charged with simple battery.
