The Atlanta Hawks decided the best way to get their fans interested in the NBA regular season tournament was to… entice them?
Atlanta dropped a promo with their mascot – Harry the Hawk – lying on a bed and rubbing his hands (wings?) up and down his body in black and white while a woman spoke in a seductive voice.
“Only Hawks Fans know where the real action takes place,” the narrator said as the Hawks logo flashed on the screen between the words “Only Fans” in a script that resembled the site’s old adult content logo.
“Only Hawks Fans know what they really want to see, and Only Hawks Fans know exactly where to get it. The all-new NBA In-Season Tournament: Join us and awaken your wild side.”
Almost immediately, there was a visceral reaction on social media, with Hawks star guards Trae Young and Dejounte Murray expressing their displeasure with the spot.
