Bayern Munich have Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund on their summer wish list, according to a new report, but they will have to fight Manchester United for the services of the Dane.

Hojlund has sparked interest from across Europe, with the Serie A side putting an £86 million price tag on him for his work with Atalanta, scoring nine goals in Italy’s top flight.

There has been much speculation that he could move to Manchester United, and Erik ten Hag had a video call with the young talent, but it appears the Red Devils have competition for the 20-year-old.

Hojlund had reportedly expressed interest in joining Ten Hag this summer, but it appears he has a number of options available to him.

German outlet Bild has put Hojlund on Bayern Munich’s target list for the transfer window.

He was picked by the club’s former sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic for his similarities to Manchester City hotshot Erling Haaland, while Werder Bremen’s Niclas Fullkrug and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos were also considered.

If Hojlund were to join the German giants, he would be deployed by Thomas Tuchel in his bid to retain the Bundesliga title with Bayern, as well as their attempts to challenge for the Champions League trophy.

Other options Bayern reportedly considered, including Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani and Napoli’s Victor Omishen, are likely to cost a significant sum, and the German champion is looking at alternatives.

Their attempts to bring Harry Kane to Germany also failed when the 29-year-old decided he wanted to stay in England.

Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen recently said he “can see” Hojlund in a red shirt next season, calling the 20-year-old a “fantastic guy”.

However, the high price could be a sticking point for Man United, though they are tempted to offer Amad Diallo on loan to sweeten the deal.

With Bayern Munich also launching a potential bidding war for the Danish striker, it will be interesting to follow developments around Hojlund in the summer.
