Ismael Bennacer scored a desperate second-half equaliser for AC Milan to ensure they remained unbeaten at the start of the new Serie A season as they drew 1-1 with Atalanta.
Ruslan Malinovskyi scored a fine opener for the hosts to send them on their way to what would have been a second win in two games after a comfortable win over Sampdoria on the opening weekend, but Bennacer’s goal ensured the points were shared in a game both sides would have been happy not to lose.
Milan, last season’s Italian champions, are looking to pounce on what is a successful period for the club but found it hard to break down a resilient back three, eventually scoring in the 68th minute to square things up.
Both sides pushed for a winner and Milan looked the more likely, but the draw means both sides missed the opportunity to move to the top of the table on the night.
