At least 23 people injured in bus and car crash in Chicago: Three people seriously injured in early morning collision

At least 23 people were injured early Sunday morning after an accident on Chicago’s Lake Shore Drive involving a car and a CTA bus.

The Chicago Fire Department tweeted about the incident just before 6:45 a.m. local time, pinpointing the exact location of the incident.

Three people were seriously injured and 13 were in good condition after the crash, CFD said. Another seven people refused treatment.

The injured were taken to local hospitals.

The car involved in the accident eventually caught fire, the agency said.

Some CTA buses have been temporarily diverted due to the blockage caused by the crash – Lake Shore Drive has been closed in the area.
