Astonishing moment Texas SWAT team uses bulletproof DIGGER to tear apart 18-wheeler cab after driver led cops on lengthy chase then kept revving engine after his tires were punctured

A Texas SWAT team demolished the cab of an 18-wheeler truck with a bulletproof excavator to pluck out the driver after he led them on an hours-long slow chase.

Shocking video shows the moment a seven-foot bulletproof vehicle known as 'The Rook' tore apart the cab of a tractor-trailer.

De Rook effortlessly tore through the exterior of the 18-wheeler and ripped off the cabin door, allowing members of the Texas SWAT team to pull out the driver.

Officers were forced to stop the huge truck by puncturing its tires with spike strips.

The dramatic action came after the driver of the truck – later identified as Trinidad Cutshall – repeatedly ignored officers' orders to get out and continued to rev the truck's engines as it drove along the highway east of Houston.

After the tractor-trailer was finally brought to a stop, the excavator tore an initial hole in the cab allowing the SWAT team to throw an unknown object into the vehicle.

The SWAT members then left one of their dogs in the truck before pulling Cutshall out.

Officials say Cutshall continued to press and hold the gas in the cabin as officers desperately tried to drag him out.

The man was finally picked out of the taxi on Wednesday around 4 p.m. and officers walked to the bloodied man with a stretcher.

Cutshall's troubling behavior came after an already alarming hours-long chase, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez said the driver appeared to be “severely impaired,” but authorities don't know what was behind his behavior.

“I still don't know why he reacted so erratically,” Gonzalez said.
