Astonishing moment California woman is airlifted to hospital after being crushed inside garbage truck when trash bin where she was sleeping got emptied

Video footage revealed the moment a California woman was airlifted to hospital after being crushed in a dumpster when the trash bin she was sleeping in was emptied.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, had fallen asleep in a trash can in Buena Park and was accidentally dumped into a garbage truck.

She was rescued Friday morning after the garbage truck driver heard noises coming from the vehicle.

“It went smoothly,” Capt. Greg Barta, a spokesman for the Orange County Fire Authority, told The Mercury News. “It’s something they train for all the time. If an unusual call comes in, they can handle it safely, effectively and efficiently.”

The OCFA released a statement on Emergency services arrived on the scene to help a woman who was in a garbage truck and was injured. The victim was sleeping in a waste container when it was emptied into the truck.”

“Our firefighters approached the patient, treated her and performed high-level surgery to free her from the truck. These types of “extraordinary” calls are what our crews train for all the time!”

At approximately 7:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a call on the 8000 block of La Palma Avenue.

Firefighters reached the truck from the top and provided medical aid to the woman.

Using ropes and a pulley system attached to a ladder fire truck, they lifted the woman, who was placed in a stokes basket, from the garbage truck.

The basket was then lowered to the ground and the woman was taken to a hospital.

The woman’s condition is stable, Barta said.

Barta said firefighters regularly perform similar rescues from different scenarios, such as ditches and roofs.

It is unclear at that time why the woman was sleeping in the garbage bin.

In January, a New Hampshire woman was hit four times by a garbage truck after “falling” into a dumpster.

She has since been released from hospital with minor injuries.

The 60-year-old victim told firefighters that she fell into the dumpster while throwing away her trash.

Manchester fire and ambulance crews responded to the housing complex on Beech Hill Drive and began lifting the woman from the truck.

Video footage from the scene captured rescue crews working together to save the woman who was being picked up by a garbage truck on collection day.

The truck driver didn’t know anyone was in the trash until he finally spotted the woman through a camera placed in the truck after it compacted her at least four times.

Rescuers used a basket to lift the woman from the truck, which was being pulled by the fire hydrant.

It is unclear how long the woman was in the dumpster, but firefighters said they were able to talk to her through an access point, where she could be heard talking and screaming but could not answer questions clearly.

Firefighters quickly decided to access the woman through the roof of the truck and soon placed her in a harness attached to a rescue basket.

She was then placed on a stretcher as both paramedics and firefighters rolled her to an ambulance as snow flurries fell from the sky.

The fire chief confirmed that he and his crew had to perform a “technical rescue,” which requires firefighters to use specialized skills and tools to perform a rescue.
