Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran charged by the FA for improper conduct after his furious reaction to red card in defeat by Newcastle

Jhon Duran has been accused of inappropriate conduct by the Football Association over his reaction to his send-off against Newcastle on Boxing Day.

The Aston Villa forward was shown a straight red card after stamping on Newcastle defender Fabian Schar during the first half of the 3-0 defeat.

Villa failed to appeal the decision, and the additional charge is now rubbing salt in the wound. Duran has until Friday to respond.

An FA statement read: ‘Jhon Duran has been charged following the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Aston Villa on Thursday 26 December 2024.

‘It is alleged that the Aston Villa striker behaved inappropriately in the 32nd minute of the match after being sent off.’
