Aston Villa continue discussions over a £12m deal for Real Betis left-back Alex Moreno.
Villa also wants a winger with Las Palmas’ 19-year-old Alberto Moleiro and Udinese’s Gerard Deulofeu among his options.
Despite having Lucas Digne, Ludwig Augustinsson and Ashley Young as potential left-backs, Emery is eager to bring on another and has his eye on the 29-year-old Moreno. Talks are continuing and Betis is believed to be already looking at possible replacements.

Moreno turns 30 in June and is unlikely to agree to come to Villa as a substitute.
If Moreno does join, it may have implications for the future of Digne, who joined Villa from Everton just a year ago for £25m, signed a four-and-a-half-year deal and is one of the club’s biggest earners.
Moreno turned down the chance to join Nottingham Forest last summer, but the presence of fellow Spaniard Emery at Villa could persuade him to leave Betis. If the clubs can agree a fee, personal terms are unlikely to present an obstacle.
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery is also thinking of signing a winger.
Villa’s billionaire owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens will back Emery in the winter transfer window and pumped a further £13.5m into the club’s coffers last week.
