Aston Villa defender Frederic Guilbert is set to end his nightmare spell at the club with his contract due to be terminated.
The 28-year-old has only played one game for Villa in the last three seasons, and he has not been happy with his lack of playing time under Steven Gerrard and Unai Emery this campaign.
After his contract is terminated, he is set to join Strasbourg, where he played on loan the previous two seasons.

He featured regularly in his first season with the club, playing in the Carabao Cup final loss to Man City, but has not played a Premier League game since Matty Cash joined the club.
He has not made a Premier League appearance for Villa since the 2019/20 season after Matty Cash joined the club from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2020.
After playing Gerrard once last season in a cup match, he never played again.
As he quotes Birmingham Post OfficeHe said last month: ‘When Steven Gerrard came along he told me I had two weeks to prove myself, but then I barely played 45 minutes.
‘I made the decision to shut up and continue working. Because if she screamed, nothing would have changed. And now I’m looking to the future.
Guilbert has previously spoken about his lack of time with Steven Gerrard and Unai Emery.

‘With Unai Emery I have never had a discussion. I can’t stay in this situation forever. We are studying the possibilities with my environment; either a loan with an option to buy or a direct transfer.
‘The only certainty is that I have to have playing time at a club to revive. This is the most important thing to me.
Guilbert took to social media earlier this week to send out a hint that a move may be one step closer to happening.
Posting to Twitter, the 28-year-old shared a post featuring a soccer ball, egg timer, and prayer emoji.
