Aston Villa are keeping an eye on Las Palmas star Alberto Moleiro, who is compared to Barcelona ace Pedri… but Unai Emery faces competition from Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid for the 19-year-old midfielder
Aston Villa are showing interest in Las Palmas attacking midfielder Alberto Moleiro.
Villa manager Unai Emery is closely watching the 19-year-old, who has been tracked by Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid, as he looks to Spain to find players to bolster his squad.
Moleiro finds himself compared to Barcelona superstar Pedri and is playing a key role in Las Palmas’ promotion push this season.
The teenager made his first-team breakthrough in the 2021-22 season, playing 38 times in all competitions.
As a result, Moleiro has signed a new long-term contract, running until 2026, but given his form it is widely accepted that he will leave before the contract is up.
If Emery could lure Moleiro to Villa Park, he would be picking up a player who, in Spain’s Segunda Division so far this season, only two players are improving on their 29 chances created in open play.
With Villa sitting 11th in the table, Emery is eager to make additions to propel them into the top half and into a serious battle for the top eight.
“We are talking and we are working on the possibility of incorporating some players,” the former Arsenal and Villarreal coach said this week.
We are also talking to some players who may leave. The truth is that I want to improve as much as we can in the squad but I am very happy with the players because I think we have very good players.
But, of course, we can improve and we can add in some position because I think we don’t have too many in the positions of the squad that I want.
“The next four weeks, we’re going to try to add some players, but really, only if they improve our team.”
