England are at the top of their fourth Ashes Test clash with rivals Australia, but eagerly await whether they can play a full day today.

Yesterday saw Jonny Bairstow break an unbeaten 99 before Mark Wood continued his fine form to take three top-order Australian wickets, leaving the hosts needing just six more in two matchdays.

Ben Stokes’ side led by 162 runs at the end of the match after posting 592 in response to Australia’s 317. The Aussies are currently 113/4 ahead on Day Four at Old Trafford.

England’s last win on home soil in the Ashes came back in 2015 where they secured a 3-2 series win.

What is the weather forecast?

The UK Met Office has forecast a wet and gloomy forecast for most of Saturday.

Rain is forecast all day, sometimes heavy.

The game should start at 11am, but torrential downpours will arrive at Old Trafford. The chance of precipitation will rise to 95 percent for most of the morning.

The maximum temperature for today has been set at 17°C, according to the UK Met Office.

The weather is expected to be a real problem today as the Met Office has forecast heavy rain throughout the day

What is the remaining schedule?

Day one of the Fourth Test opened on Wednesday, with England hoping to level the series.

It is expected to end on Sunday 23 July.

The final test begins on Thursday, July 27 and ends on the following Monday.

The remaining schedule for this year’s Ashes is as follows:

  • Fourth Test (Emirates Old Trafford) – Wednesday 19th July – Sunday 23rd July (starts at 11am)
  • Fifth Test (The Kia Oval) – Thursday, July 27 – Monday, July 31 (starting at 11am)
