Asher Keddie caught up in harrowing home invasion as husband is forced to fight off brazen intruder

Asher Keddie has survived a harrowing burglary after an intruder broke into the Melbourne home she shares with husband Vincent Fantauzzo and their two children.

According to a report in the Herald Sun on Wednesday, the Offspring star’s husband took action and took a heroic approach a man who tried to steal a motorcycle from the couple’s St. Kilda home on December 28.

Asher, 50, reportedly saw the would-be thief driving a Ducati away from their property at 7am.

She quickly alerted her husband, 48, who rushed outside to stop the brazen burglar before a fight broke out between the two.

A passerby, who witnessed the struggle, helped Vincent subdue the 44-year-old robber until police arrived on the scene.

Although the couple declined to comment on the incident, a Victoria Police spokesperson confirmed the terrifying ordeal.

According to a report in Wednesday’s Herald Sun, the Offspring star’s husband (pictured) sprang into action and heroically tackled a man who tried to steal a motorcycle from the couple’s St Kilda home on December 28.

They said the burglar “was disturbed by the occupants while he was allegedly in the process of driving the Ducati motorcycle into the street.”

“The four residents of the building and the witness were not injured,” the spokesperson said.

‘The 44-year-old Altona man was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital under police guard.’

The spokesperson added that the man was charged with aggravated burglary, motor vehicle theft, trespass and unlawful assault and will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later this month.

The couple met in 2012 when Vincent asked to paint a portrait of Asher.

They married in April 2014 in a beach ceremony on Turtle Island in Fiji.

They share Valentino, nine, and Vincent’s 14-year-old son, Luca, from a previous marriage.

Speaking to Marie Claire in 2023, Asher recalled first meeting her eventual husband.

She explained that while Vincent was painting her, he looked over the camera and they looked into each other’s eyes.

Asher, 50, reportedly saw the would-be thief driving a Ducati away from their property at 7am. She quickly alerted her husband, 48, who rushed to stop the brazen burglar before a fight broke out between the two.

“He still does those eyes above the camera; he’s very charming,” she said.

Asher added that the couple loves raising their children together because it gives them “the feeling of togetherness.”

‘What we enjoy most – and I know we both feel the same way – is sharing parenthood. “I love the sense of togetherness we have when we care for them and are part of their lives,” she added.

She also shared a glimpse into the couple’s home life with their children.

“I take care of things when I get home… but we have different roles within the house and as long as the kids come first, everything falls into place,” she added.

Vincent’s famous works include striking portraits of Julia Gillard, Baz Luhrmann and Heath Ledger, with his work highlighting the depth of Ledger’s mental struggle, which was revealed a month after his death in 2008.

The four-time Archibald People’s Choice award-winning artist has a Brisbane hotel named after him, which is filled with his paintings.

Asher, meanwhile, is a multiple Logie-winning actress, having won a Gold Logie in 2013 for her breakthrough role as Dr. Nina Proudman in Offspring.

From 2011 to 2015, she was also awarded the Most Popular Actress Logie award five times in a row.

Most recently, Asker was nominated for a Gold Logie in 2024 for her portrayal of Evelyn Jones in the BINGE series Strife.

Speak with Stellar Ahead of last year’s event, Asher admitted her second Gold Logie nomination felt “more special.”

“It actually feels more special now, to be honest,” she said.

‘I was really surprised when I got the call a few weeks ago. I thought, ‘What does this mean?’ It’s extraordinary and I feel so excited.”

Asher was beaten to the top gong by Channel Seven star Larry Emdur.
