Tennis star Ash Barty returns to the court for a special Australian Open event, nearly a year after retiring from the sport.
Ash Barty will return to the tennis court to take part in a special event to celebrate the Australian Open.
The 26-year-old tennis star will play in Myer and Mastercard’s ‘Match in the Mall’ event alongside Jim Courier, Alicia Molik and Casey Dellacqua next Sunday.
A full-scale tennis court will be set up at the Bourke St shopping center for the special occasion.

Myer ambassador Kris Smith will also serve as MC alongside Jim when he’s not playing on the court.
Myer Director of Customer Service Geoff Ikin told the herald sun: ‘Our main goal is to bring the fun and pace back to the city, and with tennis fever alive, it gives us the perfect opportunity to partner with Mastercard to close out the summer of tennis in style.’
“It’s extremely exciting to have Ash participate with other tennis legends, such as Alicia, Casey and Jim, and more to come.”

He has rejected all suggestions that he might return to professional sports in the future.

While Ash hasn’t been active on the tennis tour, it’s been a busy year for the former world number 1.
She married her partner Garry Kissick, published her memoir My Dream Time and also launched her Little Ash range of children’s books with Jasmin McGaughey and Jade Goodwin.
She also recently announced that she is expecting her first child with Garry.
