Hollywood star Neil Patrick Harris is set to make his debut in the iconic British science fiction series Doctor Who.

Harris, 50, will appear in a special episode of the hit Disney+ show called The Giggle, premiering on Saturday, December 9.

He will play one of the most terrifying villains to ever appear on the long-running series: the Toymaker.

The Doogie Howser actor joins a wealth of other beloved A-List celebrities who have appeared on the English program, which debuted on the BBC in 1963.

As Harris makes his series debut in celebration of the show’s 60th anniversary, here’s a look at some of the most famous stars appearing alongside the heroic Time Lord.

Minogue seemed to be having the time of her life as she played a humanoid waitress from the Starship Titanic, fighting robots alongside Tennant.

Carey Mulligan

The esteemed English actress, 38, appeared on the show in 2007 as Sally Sparrow, a woman who teams up with The Doctor to stop evil creatures from taking control of the TARDIS.

Mulligan gave a heartfelt performance during the iconic show and held his own against the legendary Tennant.

Simon Pegg

The Shaun of the Dead star, 53, starred in the show in 2005, alongside Ninth Doctor Christopher Eccleston as an evil character called The Editor.

Pegg looked almost unrecognizable under a striking layer of make-up as he got ready alongside Eccleston and co-star Billie Piper.

The late Alien star appeared in three episodes of Doctor in 2013, as a new incarnation of the title character.

Hurt played the War Doctor in a gripping three-episode arc that saw viewers see another version of the Time Lord alongside Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith.

Other famous stars set to appear on the legendary show include Timothy Dalton, Bill Nighy, Maisie Williams, Nick Frost and Derek Jacobi.

It comes as the much-anticipated celebration of Doctor Who’s 60th anniversary kicked off on Saturday evening, with fan favorites David Tennant and Catherine Tate reprising their roles as the titular Time Lord and his companion Donna Noble.

While the pair’s return was praised by fans, they also singled out another star’s performance, calling it “one of the best parts of the episode.”

Miriam Margolye’s guest starred in the episode, voicing Beep The Meep, a deceptively cuddly looking creature.

To mark the show’s 60th anniversary, three special episodes of Doctor Who will premiere only on Disney+, with the upcoming season debuting on the streaming service in 2024.

The trilogy of specials consists of three episodes: ‘The Star Beast’, which premiered on November 25, ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ on December 2 and ‘The Giggle’ on December 9.
