As Daniel Craig’s Loewe ad leaves people hot under the collar, how ‘guinea pig men’ are set to triumph on the dating scene this summer (but don’t confuse them with hot rodents!)
Hot rodent men are old news and have been replaced by a new incarnation that is sweeter and gentler – but still a rodent.
The latest breed of global heartthrob, dubbed the ‘Guinea Pig Man’ (GPM), describes a man who only gets better with age, with Bond star Daniel Craig, 56, at the head of the pack.
Are you looking for a seasoned man who is passionate about the classics, whether it be music or film, with a hipster fashion sense and a light edge? Then your type is the Guinea pig man.
According to Daniel Craig, Spanish fashion house Loewe’s latest campaign is largely responsible for the term The times.
In the ad campaign, the actor ditched the alpha-male masculinity associated with 007 for high fashion and much better hair. Free, flowing locks are a defining characteristic of a GPM and a reflection of the inner workings of their personality.

Daniel’s enviable hair, yellow-tinted glasses and chunky knit sweaters made him look so far removed from the alpha Bond that fans called him almost unrecognizable.
In one shot, a white vest covers his torso, paired with bright yellow pants. In another, his army pants fit into thick leather boots as he poses with both hands behind his head as if sunbathing.
It’s a sense of nonchalance that only a male guinea pig can display, saying goodbye to the smoldering looks and intensely tense muscles that alpha males often display in perfume commercials.
They have character, are self-confident and cheerful, which makes them the ideal heartbreaker.
How does GPM differ from hot rodents? The latter are loyal, unconventionally attractive, with sharp eyes and angular faces.
Zendaya’s blockbuster Challengers boosted the rodent, thanks to the appealing rodent qualities of lead stars Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor.
Pop star Sabrina Carpenter has roped in a handsome rodent friend in Barry Keoghan, and fans of The Bear think Carmy, played by Jeremy Allen White, makes for an endearing yet rodent-like appearance.
On the other hand, people like Ryan Gosling, Kit Harrington and Glen Powell are guinea pig men. These men may have been seen as feisty rodents in their youth, but are now lighter, more gentle versions.
Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington, 37, also fits into this category, thanks to his confident nature

American actor Glenn Powell, 35, is also a member of the clan, thanks to his cheerful personality
Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington could easily be placed in the ‘guinea pig’ category.
He attends star-studded events and wears designer clothes, but the 37-year-old still looks well-groomed.
Kit also meets the criteria of self-confidence and self-assurance. His last job proves how comfortable he is in his own skin.
He is currently performing in Slave Play at the Noël Coward Theatre. Ticket holders will be given a special sticker upon entry to place on their phone camera.
A source said The sun: ‘The sex scene Kit is in is quite shocking. There are lots of mirrors on stage so the audience can see his tackle from all angles.
‘The scene is over ten minutes long and bosses seem very concerned about it being recorded and leaked online – hence the stickers.’
Before adding: ‘Management wants to protect his integrity, so they have threatened legal action if anyone is caught filming.’
Elsewhere, the source called Kit a “true professional” and said he “doesn’t step out of character” when it comes to nudity.
Barbie actor Ryan Gosling doesn’t shy away from taking on less serious roles, including Jacob in Crazy, Stupid, Love
Austin Butler has followed in Ryan Gosling’s footsteps and adopted a more quirky look with long locks
Glenn Powell also fits the bill for a Guinea Pig Man. In keeping with his pets, the 35-year-old is expressive and friendly.
The actor, who hails from Austin, Texas, has recently risen to superstardom.
But his masculinity doesn’t stop him from doing the occasional TikTok dance. He recently welcomed the start of bratgirl summer with his Twisters colleagues.
Charli XCX fans have shown their loyalty to brat girl summer via the viral Charli XCX TikTok dance to her hit song Apple.
The simple routine that TikTok user Kelley Heyer created last month quickly spread across the internet.
Powell was no exception, with Daisy Edgar-Jones sharing a video of herself with him and her co-star Anthony Ramos, performing the dance to Charli XCX’s catchy track.
Daisy captioned the Instagram post, “I caught up with the boys about Brat Summer.” Glen cheekily responded, “Hard to remember my life before this ball. Thank you Daisy.”
Ryan Gosling also fits into this category. The actor is known for his endearing personality.
He starred in a string of critically acclaimed films, from Bladerunner to La La Land and Drive.
But despite his success, the 43-year-old has no problem taking on less serious, playful roles, such as Ken in Barbie.
It makes sense, then, that his biggest fan in the acting world, Austin Butler, has adopted a similar guinea pig look, giving him the same quirky edge as Gosling.
While promoting his latest film The Bikeriders, the 32-year-old Golden Globe winner opened up to Today host Savannah Guthrie about an actor he was too shy to talk to after what could have been a spontaneous meeting.
“I was just telling that story about how I was so impressed with Ryan Gosling the other day,” he said.
“That’s what happens when you don’t expect to see someone,” he said, adding: “I saw him outside the hotel where I was staying and I had to go in through a different door. I couldn’t say ‘hello.'”
“I admired him so much as a kid, so… I love that feeling,” the Dune: Part Two star admitted.
While the 32-year-old still has plenty of time to develop into a professional actor, with his signature haircut and appearances in alternative roles such as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in Dune: Part Two, he is certainly on his way to becoming a certified GPM.
