Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday congratulated the Border Roads Organization for rescuing 70 stranded tourists at Sela Pass in Tawang.

Notably, Border Roads Organization personnel on Friday rescued 70 tourists and locals stranded at Sela Pass due to heavy snowfall.

“Heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of Tawang District since February 22, 2024 has resulted in traffic disruption and closure of roads. BRO has gone beyond their mandate to keep the roads open for traffic to conduct a rescue operation to evacuate about 70 tourists and locals stranded at Sela Pass,” a BRO press release said.

The BRO said the incident took place when some vehicles became stranded at the Pass on the night of February 22-23.’42 The BRTF of Project Vartak mobilized its men and equipment to rescue them.
