Arsene Wenger backs Arsenal to challenge for the Premier League again next year
Arsene Wenger backs Arsenal to challenge for the Premier League again next year if they fall short this season… as the Frenchman insists his former club has ‘all the ingredients’ to mount another title fight
- Arsenal seem to miss out on the title after a loss of form in recent weeks
- Fans and pundits have been wondering if they’ll be in the mix again next year
- Arsene Wenger thinks his former club will compete for the league next season
Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal will be in the mix to win the Premier League again next season, even if they cannot claim the title this year.
The Gunners have led the way for most of this season, but after winning just one of their last five games, they have fallen below Manchester City in the league table.
Pep Guardiola’s men are now firm favorites to retain their crown, and Arsenal’s drop in form at a crucial stage of the season has left some wondering if they would be able to bounce back to have another strong season next year.
However, Wenger is unconcerned about his former club and feels Mikel Arteta is building a team capable of competing with the best for years to come.
“I think we have a player in every position of the team who has the quality to deliver the trophy,” said Wenger. Sky Sports on Wednesday evening.

Arsene Wenger, who has been inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame, thinks his former club can fight for the title again next season
“If it’s not this year, it might be next year, but the quality is there, you know, and the team is moving forward, very young.
“But I like the way they play, they’re mobile, they make intelligent decisions around the box, they play well together and all the ingredients are there.”
Wenger was speaking at the Premier League Hall of Fame night in London after being named to the ‘Class of 2023’ alongside Tony Adams, Rio Ferdinand, Petr Cech and longtime opponent Sir Alex Ferguson.
Wenger and Ferguson are the first managers to enter the Hall of Fame, and the pair enjoyed an epic rivalry throughout their illustrious career.
The Frenchman won three league titles with Arsenal, but the north London side have not lifted the Premier League trophy since 2004 and their wait for domestic glory could stretch to a 20th year if City completes the job in the coming weeks.
Arsenal are currently one point behind City, a game more in play, and face a huge test of their title credentials this weekend as they head to high-flying Newcastle.
A defeat at St James’ Park would likely spell the end of their title hopes as City host Sam Allardyce’s Leeds United on Saturday.
